Surgoinsville, TN – July 2026 – Contour Glass has committed capital toward new tempering equipment, expanding its glass tempering capacity for the second time in 15 months. “Our executive management team’s strategic plan is focused on increasing our glass tempering capacity to better serve our growing customer base and meet rising demand,” said Marc Massa, CEO of Contour Glass. “This is the second major tempering enhancement we have made in the past 15 months. We are pleased to invest in this new machine, which represents another step forward in our continued commitment to this business and its future.”

Surgoinsville, TN – January 2026 – Contour Glass completes the installation of a new continuous flat glass tempering line. CEO and President Marc Massa states, “The associates at Contour Glass are extremely excited watching the retirement of the previous tempering line that processed over a quarter of a billion pieces of glass, being replaced with a new state of the art continuous convection tempering furnace.”
VP of Operations David Tomlinson commented, “ We challenged ourselves to complete demolition and installation of the new line on the same plant footprint in 4 weeks.” “Our technical team with the assistance from the equipment supplier accomplished this monumental task in 22 days.”
Mr. Massa adds, “We are nearing completion of our short-term strategic plan replacing our primary glass processing equipment with the latest machine technology while also increasing capacity by 40%.

Surgoinsville, TN – May 2025 – Contour Glass announces the purchase of a new high-speed tempering furnace. Marc Massa CEO and president states, “ Our commitment to the Surgoinsville facility and our associates has reached an exciting new milestone, with the purchase of a new state of the art convection tempering furnace scheduled for installation in December of 2025.” “The line will increase our capacity by 30% and enhance our glass size capability by 12%.” Contour has made a financial commitment to its future of $2.5 million over the past 2 years.

Surgoinsville, TN – May 2023 – Cardinal Equity Partners, LLC, an Indianapolis based, family backed private investment firm is pleased to announce that it has sold its investment in Contour Industries, Inc. d/b/a Contour Glass to a group including its long-term management team. The management team was supported by investments from a Cardinal principal as well as Kissel Capital. Cardinal acquired Contour in 2011. Based in the Kingsport, TN area, Contour Glass fabricates glass parts for the appliance, building products, and RV industries, focusing on high volume production runs on its multiple tempering furnaces. The management team has been in place for the duration of Cardinal’s investment period. Surgoinsville, TN – June 2, 2014 – Contour glass welcomes the addition of Geoff Davis as Quality Director. Geoff comes to Contour Glass with 25 years of manufacturing experience in various engineering and quality roles. Some of his past positions have been in the manufacturing of high voltage cable, fused silica, Tier 1 automotive glass fabrication and most recently 5 years as Quality Engineer in the float glass business. Mr. Davis is well versed in ISO/TS standards, APQP process and has been a key contributor in multiple automotive launches. Geoff was born and raised in Marion, IN and relocated to East Tennessee in the 1980’s. Geoff earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University in Manufacturing Engineering with a concentration in Quality Assurance.

Surgoinsville, TN – January 20, 2014 – Contour Glass welcomes the addition of Jamie Culbertson as Production Manager. Jamie is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He brings to Contour Glass 31 years of production management in the raw glass and tempered glass business. Additionally, Jamie has experience in process and procedures improvement, safety management and extensive experience in glass production problem solving. Jamie has the education, background and skills training to drive efficiency and further enhance “The Reliable Fit, Way.” As Production Manager, he will be reporting directly to John Litzinger, COO.

Surgoinsville, TN – August 2, 2012 – Contour Glass recently commissioned a heat soak testing chamber, which is used in the detection of nickel sulfide inclusions in tempered glass. Nickel sulfide inclusions are a leading cause in the spontaneous breakage of tempered glass. During the heat soak testing process, tempered glass is heated incrementally from ambient to a temperature of approximately 300° Celsius. The test chamber is sensor controlled through a critical “soak” time, and then a cooling down process. This measured heating and cooling method accelerates the expansion of nickel sulfide inclusions, which substantially increases the probability of forced breakage during the testing process and minimizes the chances of spontaneous breakage after installation. While the heat soak process is recognized as the best approach for the detection and elimination of nickel sulfide inclusions, the test does not ensure total elimination of spontaneous breakage.
